The short version
- Pinsula collects no personal data. There's no account, no sign-in and no profile.
- Your progress stays on your device. Checklists, pins, notes, sightings and photos are never sent to us.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs in the app.
- Apple handles purchases. We never see your payment details.
- Content downloads are anonymous. The app adds no identifiers to them.
Who we are
Pinsula is published by [PUBLISHER LEGAL NAME], [POSTAL ADDRESS] (“we”, “us”). For anything about privacy, email pinsula@catsoftapps.studio.
Pinsula is an independent, unofficial fan-made app. It is not affiliated with Rockstar Games or Take-Two Interactive, and they receive no data from it.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in Pinsula is stored only in the app's storage on your iPhone or iPad:
- checklist progress, launch-prep items and favorites;
- custom map pins and their notes;
- wildlife sightings, with your notes and photos;
- your settings (console platform, haptics, notification topics, onboarding state).
None of it is sent to us or to anyone else. Pinsula has no server that receives it and no iCloud sync. The app's own widgets read the same data on your device through an app group, which never leaves the device.
If you back up your device with iCloud Backup or to a computer, iOS may include this data in that backup. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple; we can't access them.
Deleting your data: in the app, open Settings (the gear on Home) › Reset all progress to delete your progress, favorites, custom pins and sightings, including their photos and notes. Deleting the app removes everything it stored, settings included.
Photos
With Pinsula Pro you can add your own photo to a wildlife sighting. You choose it with the system photo picker, which gives the app only the photo you pick. Pinsula never gets access to your photo library.
The app resizes the photo and saves it as a new image file. Re-encoding drops the original metadata, including location. The photo is stored on your device only.
If you share a 100% card or a photo and choose Save Image, iOS asks for permission to add it to your Photos library. That permission is add-only: the app can't read your library.
Purchases
Pinsula Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment, and its privacy policy applies. We don't receive your name, Apple Account or payment details. The app checks what you've bought on your device with Apple's StoreKit, and there's no receipt upload to us.
Like every developer, we see the sales and download reports Apple provides in App Store Connect. If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iOS settings, Apple may also give us aggregated usage statistics and crash reports. These don't identify you to us.
Content downloads and this website
To stay up to date after launch, the app downloads data files from our website, pinsula.catsoftapps.studio: facts, the timeline, checklists, map pins and cheat codes, and after launch possibly map images. It checks when you open it and, if Background App Refresh is on, now and then in the background.
These downloads send no account, identifier or cookie, and the app adds nothing about you to them. Like any internet request, each one reveals your IP address and the standard technical details every iPhone request carries (such as the app name and system version) to the server that delivers the file. That's needed to deliver it, and we don't use it to identify anyone.
The website and these files are hosted by Cloudflare, Inc., which processes IP addresses to deliver the files and to keep the service secure, as described in its privacy policy. We keep no access logs: we don't collect, receive or store request logs, and we run no analytics on the website or in the app, so there is nothing on our side to retain.
This website sets no cookies, runs no scripts and loads nothing from other companies: no ads, no analytics, no web fonts from third parties, no embeds.
The Guide links to the public sources behind each fact. If you tap one, it opens in your browser, and that website's own privacy policy applies.
Notifications, widgets and Siri
- Notifications are optional. The app asks for permission only when you turn alerts on. Every alert is a local notification scheduled on your device: launch reminders, and alerts when a content update adds new cheats, map pins or checklist items. Pinsula uses no push notification service, and no device token is sent anywhere.
- Widgets and Live Activities run on your device and are updated by the app on your device.
- Siri and Shortcuts: when you use a Pinsula phrase, Apple processes your voice request under its own privacy policy. Pinsula answers on your device and doesn't receive your recordings.
Email support
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. When you use Contact support in the app, the draft also contains the app version, content version, iOS version and device model, so we can reproduce problems. You see and can edit all of it before you send; nothing is sent automatically.
We use your email only to answer you. We don't share it, add you to a mailing list or use it for marketing. Our email provider stores the messages for us. We delete support conversations within 12 months of the last message, or sooner if you ask. Because we have a legitimate interest in answering your question, that's the legal basis for this processing under the GDPR.
What we never do
- No ads and no ad networks.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across apps or websites. The app never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt because it doesn't track.
- We don't sell or share personal information, and we don't build profiles.
- No account, no login and no social features.
Children
Pinsula is a companion to a game rated for adults and is not directed at children under 13. The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children. If a child emails us, we'll delete the message once we notice.
Your rights
Because the app collects no personal data, the only personal data we can hold about you is email you've sent us. Wherever you live, you can ask us to see, correct or delete it by writing to pinsula@catsoftapps.studio. In the EU, the UK and some other places you also have the right to object to processing and to complain to your data protection authority. Under California law (CCPA/CPRA): we don't sell or share personal information.
Changes and contact
If what the app does with data ever changes (for example, if we add iCloud sync), we'll update this policy and the App Store privacy label first, change the effective date above, and mention it in the app's release notes.
